Hagia Sophia

Hagia Sophia

Finally, we reached the Hagia Sophia and it was colossal and a pale peach colour with blue domes. It used to be known as a church although they changed it to a mosque! When you walk in you would be shocked thinking why are there still pictures of Jesus and Mary? Well I researched and found out the reason. It was because they wanted to keep a bit of history but even thought it isn’t very appropriate for a mosque it brightened the place up! There weren’t many things inside for they removed it and they were getting it rebuilt so we didn’t spend much time there. One thing which wasn’t getting worked on was the dome patterns. It was beautiful.

Then on the way home we found lots of corn stalls so we picked up some juicy, butter cup yellow corn for me and my family and we ate it in front of the lovely, colour changing fountain as a little treat! It was delicious and made my mouth tingle. After that we spotted an Indian restaurant called Swaad we found the day before and my dad said, β€œLet’s try out the food there and see if it is like home.” So we walked in and sat ourselves down for a posh meal. It was all mad of velvet and was very pretty. The comfy, giant chairs were huge that it caused me to sink down and I hardly fit in! We got chicken and naan bread and got some bright, rainbow coloured rice! It sounded and looked scrumptious! After that, we left for home taking on the sights along the way and walked wearily with tummies as big as beach balls and when we reached the hotel immediately we snored away ready for tomorrow!
